Paul Cormack

Artist Bio

Paul Cormack was born and raised in Lismore, a small city in Australia. Always interested in painting, he relocated to Sydney and studied at the distinguished National Art school. To support his work as an artist, he translated his talent into a successful fashion business, converting his sense of color and design into exquisite pieces that were sold in major department stores in Sydney and New York City. His hand-painted silk designs were unique and luxurious and are found in specialty stores across North America. His paintings were most recently exhibited at AXSart in Wynwood, and his pastels and watercolors are in private collections in New York, Miami, and Sydney and California.

In His Words

My work is influenced by a tropical childhood environment and is reflected in my use of color and medium. The chromatic works are inspired by landscapes and multi-colored abstract visions of beauty that I see and experience in the world around me.

My paintings take landscape as a conceptual point of departure, capturing a plien air impression using watercolor or pastel. My work also experiences landscape as abstract shapes and movement, using color to express enigmatic thoughts and feelings that intrigue me. My purpose in creating art is to express the joy and the mysteries that dwell within my spirit and my conscious and subconscious mind.
