DBA Founders

The first Doing Business as Artist Entrepreneurs (DBA) exhibition came about as the brainchild of founding artists Virginia Fifield, Jacklyn Laflamme and LeeAnna Yater. They were motivated to put into practice the skills they learned after completing the Artist as an Entrepreneur Institute (AEI) workshops. The mission of DBA is to assist with AEI participating artists in launching their careers by providing exposure for their artwork in the form of an exhibition, catalog and website. Producing the annual show provides an opportunity to put into practice the skills they gained from the AEI program.

DBA exhibits only feature alumni artists from AEI, building a unique collective of artistic talent that encompasses both visual and performing arts. More than 110 artists have taken part in DBA exhibitions since 2009, joining this unique collective. Each year, a past exhibiting artist takes over the mantel of curator. This year the exhibit will be managed by a curator and curator-in-training.

We wish all the artists in this year’s exhibition every success and are looking forward to continuing these exhibitions in future years to come.
